Photoelectric intelligent dry type coal separator is a kind of dry type coal separation equipment based on advanced imaging and artificial intelligence technology. By using the material characteristics acquired by X-ray imaging system, coal and gangue can be automatically analyzed and identified, and the high-pressure air can be controlled to blow the target to realize fully-automatic raw coal separation. It has the advantages of high separation accuracy, greatly reducing the cost of electricity and manpower and featuring easy equipment maintenance and strong adaptability to coal types.

1Advanced imagingtechnologyOn the basis of in-depth study on the radiation absorption characteristics of the target, the signal type and imaging optical path are optimized. The matched multi-band sensor is used to highlight the feature differences of the target to the greatest extent. High-standard industrial X-ray source is adopted, which makes the ray more uniform and stable. Imported high-performance dual energy X-ray detector is adopted, which has high signal-to-noise ratio and good image quality.

2Executive subsystem of efficient and reliable air separationThe high-pressure air nozzles of the executive subsystem are arranged in an array. According to the position and shape information of the object to be executed, the opening and closing time of multiple air nozzles at the corresponding positions is intelligently controlled, which can effectively solve the problem that irregular objects with special shapes and small stress surfaces are difficult to be blown and achieve accurate blowing separation. When encountering raw coal with different ash contents, moisture contents and batches, the system can self-study and adjust the identification parameters within a certain range and flexibly switch the blowing separation schemes according to the gangue content.

Traditional coal preparation methods include heavy media, jigging, and flotation. These methods have been applied in CHPP for a long history. All of them have a common feature is that high water consumption and needs disposal of sewage. While, the X-ray coal preparation method does not require water in the process of coal gangue separation, and has the advantages of low cost and no pollution.

HXS Intelligent Dry Type Separator is a coal sorting equipment based on the advanced Imaging technology and AI technology. The coal and gangue are automatically analyzed and identified by X-ray imaging system, which can obtain the material characteristics, and control the high-pressure wind to blow the target materials away. Then the full-automatic raw coal separation is realized.

Based on X-ray and fiber optic sensor technology, its mainly composed of X-ray source module, detector module, fiber optic sensor module, pneumatic regulating valve sorting device, feeding device, conveying device and other structures. See the Figure 1 below:

4. The main function of the control module is to ensure the coordination of the operation of the various parts of the system, to ensure the synchronization of the collected data, and to send sorting signals in a timely manner.

If the X-ray intensity is too small, it will not be able to penetrate coal or gangue. If the intensity is too large, it will cause a lot of radiation. Therefore, selecting the appropriate ray intensity is the key point of the X-ray dry separator.

From the experimental results in Table 1, it can be seen that as the voltage of the X-ray source decreases (ie, the intensity of the rays decreases), the gray values of the X-ray images of coal and gangue continue to decrease, and the difference of gray value increases first and then decreases. When the voltage is at 140Kv, the difference between the gray values of coal and gangue is the largest, which is easy for system to identify coal and gangue.

The optical fiber sensor is composed of light source, incident optical fiber, receiving optical fiber and photoelectric detector, as shown in Figure 3. The probe of optical fiber sensor is composed of a incident optical fiber and a receiving optical fiber. The light from the light source is sent to the tested object through the incident optical fiber. The receiving optical fiber receives the light reflected from the surface of the tested object and transmits it to the photodetector, which converts the light signal into a voltage signal for output.

The experimental data shows that the attenuation coefficient of X-ray passing through coal is less than 11, and the attenuation coefficient of X-ray passing through gangue is more than 11, which indicates that the setting of gangue recognition domain is reasonable and effective.

Based on the technology of X-ray and optical fiber sensor, XRT intelligent dry coal separator obtains the X-ray images of coal and gangue by X-ray scanning, and obtains the gray value of the image after processing. It uses optical fiber sensor to detect the thickness of coal and gangue, determines the recognition value of coal and gangue by gray value and thickness, eliminates the influence of different thickness of coal and gangue on recognition, and effectively realizes the automatic separation of coal and gangue.

The FGX technology provides an innovative and cost-effective dry coal processing process that integrates the separation principles of an autogenous medium separator and a conventional table concentrator. The FGX dry processing of coal is a density based method. A typical FGX separator consists of a coal feeder, separating compartment, blower, draft fan, and dust collecting system. Even today, traditional coal beneficiation is performed using coal washing with large amounts of water. It is then necessary to expend considerable energy drying the coal again. Moreover, in many regions of the world water is rare, and it is becoming more difficult for mines to obtain licenses for its use. An effective means of dry coal beneficiation is offered by our STEINERT XSS T EVO 5.0 X-ray sorting system based on dual energy x-ray transmission. This allows ash content to be reduced without the use of water, while specific contaminants such as sulphur can be accurately removed. Since the x-ray technology is capable of detecting atomic differences in the rock, the almost pure carbon in the coal is relatively easy to separate from the waste rock. And the ash content in the product can be determined by varying the threshold values.

This offers a wide range of applications for the coal. With this method, the de-centralised pre-concentration of coal in small, remote mines allows the coal to be separated from the waste rock, to immense economic advantage.Transport costs are massively reduced, or the coal is sold directly as a high quality product.

The use of drum screens is very common in coal beneficiation. The disadvantage here, however, is that between 10 and 20% of the coal is lost in the screen overflow. This proportion can however be recovered using x-ray transmission sorting.

For traditional plant we offer the STEINERT WDS wet drum magnetic separators, which are optimised for the recovery of magnetite and ferrosilicon from the heavy media of the sink/float separators. In this way, traditional coal washing can be performed economically, through the recovery of the heavy media.
